Punta Gorda was once again recognized by The Miliken Institute, a nonprofit independent economic organization based in Santa Monica, California. Ranking at No. 22 on the list of Best Performing Small Cities of 2005. Punta Gorda MSA bested all small cities as far as inroads made in wages and salaries in the past 5 years coming in at #1; Punta Gorda MSA ranked 14th in job growth for a one-year period. The other categories considered were high technology growth and population growth.
