The
EDO was recognized as the No. 1 provider of information and services
among comparable size communities using the World Wide Web through
its Web site: www.pureeconomics.org
The award-winning site is user friendly, easy to navigate and provides
a lot of information for businesses considering relocation, including
the demographics consultants seek, according to Betty Williams,
Charlotte's economic development manager.
"We're fortunate to have such a talented staff. Julie Sapp,
our Web master, has done an outstanding job," she said.
The site also contains an assistance guide to help businesses, particularly
smaller firms, set up in Charlotte County. Information about
the state economic development partner, Enterprise Florida, can
be found on the site, as well as any local incentives.
A link to the Enterprise Charlotte Foundation, which provides private
sector support to the county's economic development efforts also
can be accessed through the site.
Williams said additional features and improvements will be coming
soon.
The competition was based on design, creativity, content and ease
of navigation. The judging panel was comprised of economic development
professionals from across the state. "It's great to receive
recognition," Williams said. "When that recognition comes
from your peers and competitors, it's even better." |
