In its September/October 2006 issue, Business Development Outlook Magazine commissioned Sperling Best Places to rank the top 50 cities in the US, and names Punta Gorda the 49th best overall city. See details.

In December 2004, Kiplinger's Letter cited that Punta Gorda is among the fastest job growth areas in Florida, now to 2030. Also listed were Orlando and Naples, with jobs that are likely to grow nearly 3% per year on average.
