Major Area Highways  
State Highways  
State Road 31 A north-south corridor connecting DeSoto county, Charlotte county and Lee county east of I-75. 
State Road 771 Also now known as Charlotte County Road 771, starts off in Boca Grande on Gasparilla Island and heads northwest to connect to State Road 776 near El Jobean. 
State Road 775 Starts off from County Road 771 near Placida and heads northwest to meet County State Road 776 in the Lemon Bay area. 
State Road 776 This 25-mile long loop road connects northwestern Charlotte county with southern Sarasota county. The east end intersects US 41 in the Murdock area, heads southwest over El Jobean, then onto Englewood as McCall Road. It is known as Indiana Avenue as it heads north and enters southern Sarasota county, ending in south Venice intersecting US 41 once again. 
Federal Highways  
U.S. Highway 41 (aka Tamiami Trail) Named for its two termini in Florida, Tampa and Miami, US 41 actually extends as far north as Michigan's Upper Peninsula. It runs almost parallel to I-75 with major Florida cities along its route: Miami, Naples, Fort Myers and Tampa.
U.S. Highway 17 A north-south US highway, also known as the Ocean Highway, starts in Punta Gorda, Fl and ends in Winchester, VA . It counts Orlando and Jacksonville among the major cities it intersects. 
Federal Interstate Highway  
I-75 With a total length of 1786 miles, of which 470 miles is in Florida, I-75 is Charlotte County's primary thouroughfare. There are 5 exits within the county, not including exit 179 which falls within the Sarasota county line but is one of the more heavily-used exits by county residents. (See Table 5.9 for exit usage data.)
